It is important to be sure that your computer is properly equipped for your online courses. Academy of Art University's online environment requires Google Chrome, Firefox or Safari for the best experience.
Other browsers, such as Internet Explorer, are not recommended and may negatively affect your online class experience. If your computer does not have a supported web browser, you may download any of the supported web browsers listed for free.
In addition to a supported web browser, you will need a reliable, fast internet connection. You will be viewing streaming media and other materials that require you to be online.
Please review the Other System Requirements tab on the Online Education page on the Academy's main website.
Some components of your online classes will require the ability to open a variety of files and view various types of media. In the Media on Demand section of your course, click the Instructions link to expand a selection of resources required for your online class. Clicking any of these items will present you with further onscreen instructions for installing that item on your computer.
QuickTime is necessary for viewing some videos.
Adobe Flash Player is a plugin required to view elements like the whiteboard, slideshows, and other interactive components.
Adobe Reader may be required for you to open and view PDF documents.
Finally, you may need ZiP Reader (or a similar program) to create or open zipped (compressed) folders.
